and they call it "kitty love"

so, while i was pregnant, several friends expressed concern about the way our cats would interact with the baby.  (honestly, several friends expressed concern that we have cats at all since they are mostly dog people!)  i did a little research about introducing the cats to the new baby and  i asked questions in our infant care class, but overall i wasn't too worried.

at first they ignored her completely.  they actually went out of their ways to pretend she wasn't here.  after a few weeks they started to take interest - from a distance.  they would sniff at her, look at her, but always stayed away. there was definitely some sibling rivalry going on - if i was holding promise when mary jane wanted to be in my lap she would go to the other end of the couch and turn her back to us and pout!

but as weeks have turned to months, they are starting to accept the fact that she is here to stay.  pepper often takes part in "tummy-time".  and both cats will sit with us on the couch now or in her room during story time.  they still have some jealous moments, but over all they're starting to love her!
