3 Month Letter (Luke)

My Lukey Boy,

You are 3 months old! I can't believe it! You are perfect. Every morning you wake with a smile. In fact, any time I look at you you smile. And you have the most perfect little gummy smile in the world! You are incredibly easy going. Nothing seems to phase you and there is never anything that a snuggle can't solve. We're getting a little more consistent with our routine, but on days that are crazy you don't seem too phased by it.

Happiest baby ever!

We've spent a lot of time this month trying to get you to put on some weight. You were dropping growth curves and gaining very slowly, so your doctor and I came up with some various strategies to help you catch up. After a lot of work and extra feedings you have started to stay on the same curve (3rd percentile) and are finally over 10lbs! Now we are back to a pretty normal schedule. You eat about 6 times a day and I give you a few ounces of expressed milk in a bottle. You are definitely eating better, but you still spit up quit a bit. And you're pretty skilled in getting spit-up everywhere but on the burp rag. And you think its funny!

Look at those lashes

You sleep great! We start your our day around 6:30 or 7:00. Your first nap is usually about 2.5 hours - sometimes 3. Your 2nd nap is pretty reliable these days, but you still struggle to get past the 45 minute mark for your 3rd and 4th naps. You go to bed about 50% of the time now and the other 50% you still want to be held, but you almost always sleep from your dreamfeed  until morning - 8+ hours.

You are getting really strong. You hold yourself up great. You started rolling over from tummy to back at 11 weeks. But, you're not super motivated about it. One day last week you rolled over three times in a row and haven't done it since. You hold yourself up on your arms very well during tummy time and you don't fight tummy time at all anymore. You also have a pretty good grip and can hold on to a few toys pretty well.

Getting in some gym time

You are still a Mama's boy. You light up every time you see me. And I looooove it! You love Daddy too. Every time you catch sight of him you have this adorable surprised look on your face, followed by that gorgeous smile. And you are really warming up to Promise. You watch her with visible interest, but you still get a little bug-eyed when she gets too close. She was the one to get your first laugh (you were laying on the floor in front of me and she was hiding behind me and jumping out at you). It was a beautiful sound!

"Enough already, Mom"

You are such a wonderful addition to our family and have made us so much better. I can't tell you enough how much I love you. I can't get enough of your smile, your snuggles, or your sweet little face.

Happy 3 months baby boy.

Love,
Mommy
